Unit 1, Task 6, M3

There are lots of different ways to learn, some people find different ways easier than others. The three main ways of learning are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. In this report I am going to explain these main types of learning and also what the easiest way to learn for me is.

Visual learners are people that learn by observation and often have strong visualisation skills allowing them to recall what they have seen. They learn best through the use of things such as flashcards, pictures, sight words, charts and diagrams or even just repeating words aloud for memorisation. These methods organise and present information in a visually tidy and meaningful way. They benefit from using written notes, reading information, watching video clips and films.

Auditory learners are people that are able to learn best by hearing information and speaking it themselves. They usually do no write things down when learning as it could confuse them and allow them to forget the information in their head. The often listen to instructions or information and learn from memory. The learn best by hearing things and keeping the information in their heads. They usually benefit from asking questions when they are stuck and simply listening and taking in all the relevant information. The often find it harder to follow written instructions but find spoken instructions simple to remember and follow. Discussions are also beneficial when learning this way.

Kinesthetic learners tend like to learn in a more practical way and involve people taking part in physical activity rather than sitting down and memorising information from text books. For example, they tend to benefit from demonstrations, playing games, role play and they are often able to read body language. These types of learners like to learn when they are moving around, they find it easier to learn this way. Kinesthetic learners like to explore work for themselves rather than listening to someone explains it to them first. They benefit from using the sense touch and movement.

When learning my new skills I used the three main types of learning, visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Visual learning helped me complete my work because I got up written instructions and diagrams on how to complete skills; I then followed these step by step to make sure that I fully understand them. I used auditory by listening to the teachers explanations and instructions on how to complete skills and tasks and applied them to my work. I used kinesthetic learning by actually trying the skills myself; I independently tried these skills in my free time to make sure I could do them correctly.

  1. www. M3.A very impressive piece of work .You clearly show how an awareness of the way learning styles can aid personal development. You have also evaluated your preferred styles.Well done.
